Grants Accounting Manager

UIW Mission

Position Summary
The Grants Accounting Manager is primarily responsible for the oversight and management of post-award grant accounting operations within the Grants Accounting Office to ensure compliance with all UIW policy and procedures, as well as rules and regulations promulgated by granting entities. Position also provides oversight and management of all restricted fund functions within said office. The Grants Accounting Manager reports to the Assistant Comptroller.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to effectively analyze, review, and reconcile accounts, as well as prepare clear and concise reports;
  • Ability to effectively prepare and review work papers for internal and external audits;
  • Strong proficiency in operating a calculator and/or ten key adding machine;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, co-workers, supervisors, and community;
  • Ability to effectively select, motivate, lead, train, and evaluate staff;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established timelines in a deadline driven;
  • Ability to use rational judgment in making work related decisions based on a strong work ethic;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team;
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service;
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, or equivalent degree (Finance or Accounting concentration) from an accredited college or university.

Required Work Experience
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of grants accounting experience with extensive working knowledge of federal and state regulatory agency rules and regulations (i.e., Uniform Guidance, CAS, FAR);
  • At least two (2) years of professional supervisory experience in this field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Non-profit or higher education experience;
  • Ellucian Banner software experience;
  • Experience working with various technologies including Ellucian BANNER, grants module, and reporting systems such as ARGOS.

Monday through Friday  8am to 5pm with extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals.
